Kūrmāpurāṇa-Anukramaṇikā
Index/Summary of the Kūrma Purāṇa
यया संतुष्यति श्रीशो नृणां श्रेयोविवर्द्धनः । पंचमेऽस्यास्ततः पादे वृत्तिः संकरजोदिता ॥ १८ ॥
yayā saṃtuṣyati śrīśo nṛṇāṃ śreyovivarddhanaḥ | paṃcame'syāstataḥ pāde vṛttiḥ saṃkarajoditā || 18 ||
That discipline by which Śrīśa (Viṣṇu, the Lord of Lakṣmī) is pleased—and by which the highest welfare of humankind is increased—was expounded by Saṅkaraja in the fifth pāda that follows.
Narada (in an anukramanika/enumerative narration, within the Narada–Sanatkumara dialogue frame)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: shanta
It frames the guiding criterion for practice: the true discipline is that which pleases Śrīśa (Viṣṇu) and increases śreyas (the highest good) for people, and it points to where that teaching is elaborated (the fifth pāda).
Bhakti is implied as the measure of authenticity—practices are validated by their ability to satisfy Viṣṇu (Śrīśa). The verse also signals an organized, section-wise teaching where devotion-centered discipline is systematically explained.
No single Vedāṅga is named directly; instead, the verse uses an anukramanika method (structured sectioning into pādas) typical of technical organization—indicating where a fuller vṛtti (exposition) is found.
