Matsya Purana — Yadu Lineage
यो विष्णुं जनयामास यं च तातेत्यभाषत या गर्भं जनयामास या चैनं त्व् अभ्यवर्धयत् //
yo viṣṇuṃ janayāmāsa yaṃ ca tātetyabhāṣata yā garbhaṃ janayāmāsa yā cainaṃ tv abhyavardhayat //
He is truly the father who brought Vishnu into being, whom the child addressed as “father”; and she is truly the mother who conceived him in the womb and who, indeed, nourished and raised him.
This verse does not describe pralaya; it defines “true” fatherhood and motherhood—those who beget, carry, and raise—using Vishnu as the exemplar, emphasizing dharmic recognition of real nurturing causes.
It underscores the householder’s dharma: parenthood is validated not merely by biology but by responsibility—conception, protection, and upbringing. For a king, it parallels righteous rulership: a ruler is ‘father’ to subjects only when he genuinely protects and nurtures them.
No vastu/temple-architecture rule is stated here; the ritual takeaway is ethical—honoring parents and caretakers as part of dharma, which supports household rites and ancestral obligations.
