Matsya Purana — Tripura’s Prosperity
कलहेषु च सज्जन्ते स्वधर्मेषु हसन्ति च परस्परं च निन्दन्ति अहमित्येव वादिनः //
kalaheṣu ca sajjante svadharmeṣu hasanti ca parasparaṃ ca nindanti ahamityeva vādinaḥ //
They become engrossed in quarrels; they mock their own duties; they disparage one another—and speak only in the language of ego, saying, “I alone.”
This verse does not discuss cosmic dissolution; it describes moral and social dissolution—how ego and quarrels erode dharma in Kali-yuga.
It warns rulers and householders that society collapses when people ridicule svadharma and become ego-driven; a king should curb factional quarrels and promote respect for duty, while householders should practice restraint, humility, and adherence to their responsibilities.
No Vastu or ritual procedure is mentioned directly; the takeaway is ethical—temple-building or ritual life becomes hollow when driven by ego and mutual contempt rather than dharma.
