Matsya Purana — The Terror of Tripura and the Gods’ Hymn to Śiva
कृतः पुराणां विष्कम्भो योजमानां शतं शतम् यथा चैकप्रहारेण हन्यते वै भवेन तु पुष्ययोगेण युक्तानि तानि चैकक्षणेन तु //
kṛtaḥ purāṇāṃ viṣkambho yojamānāṃ śataṃ śatam yathā caikaprahāreṇa hanyate vai bhavena tu puṣyayogeṇa yuktāni tāni caikakṣaṇena tu //
When the rite called Viṣkambha is duly performed, even hundreds upon hundreds of accumulated obstacles are set aside; just as by sheer force a foe may be struck down with a single blow, so too, when the work is joined with Puṣya-yoga, those impediments are removed in an instant.
This verse is not about Pralaya; it teaches electional timing and ritual methods in Vastu/ritual practice, stating that auspicious yogas (especially Puṣya-yoga) can swiftly remove accumulated impediments to a work.
It supports the duty of undertaking projects—temples, wells, halls, homes, and public works—through proper dharmic procedure: selecting an auspicious muhurta and performing prescribed rites to prevent delays, defects, and misfortune.
It emphasizes Vastu-ritual praxis: performing the Viṣkambha rite and commencing/continuing work under Puṣya-yoga is presented as a powerful means to neutralize construction obstacles and ensure rapid success.
