Matsya Purana — The Syamantaka Jewel Episode and the Vrishni–Sainya Genealogies
माद्री युधाजितं पुत्रं ततो वै देवमीढुषम् अनमित्रं शिबिं चैव पञ्चमं कृतलक्षणम् //
mādrī yudhājitaṃ putraṃ tato vai devamīḍhuṣam anamitraṃ śibiṃ caiva pañcamaṃ kṛtalakṣaṇam //
Mādrī bore a son, Yudhājit; and thereafter she bore Devamīḍhuṣa, Anamitra, and Śibi—these, as the fifth, were marked with accomplished royal characteristics.
This verse does not address Pralaya; it is a genealogical record listing Mādrī’s sons within a royal lineage narrative.
By describing the sons as kṛtalakṣaṇa (“endowed with accomplished marks”), the verse implies ideals of royal fitness—auspicious traits and capability—supporting the Purana’s broader emphasis on qualified rulership and orderly succession.
No Vāstu, temple-building, or ritual procedure is mentioned; the focus is purely on lineage enumeration and royal progeny.
