Matsya Purana — The Pushkara Manifestation
दक्षं मरीचिमत्रिं च पुलस्त्यं पुलहं क्रतुम् वसिष्ठं गौतमं चैव भृगुमङ्गिरसं मनुम् //
dakṣaṃ marīcimatriṃ ca pulastyaṃ pulahaṃ kratum vasiṣṭhaṃ gautamaṃ caiva bhṛgumaṅgirasaṃ manum //
Dakṣa, Marīci, Atri, Pulastya, Pulaha, Kratu, Vasiṣṭha, Gautama, Bhṛgu, Aṅgiras, and Manu—these (sages/forefathers) are being named (in order).
This verse is not describing Pralaya directly; it supports the creation-era framework by listing prime progenitors and ṛṣis through whom beings and lineages are said to proceed.
By foregrounding Manu and the great ṛṣis, the verse anchors dharma in authoritative lineage—kings and householders are expected to uphold conduct and law traced to Manu and the seer-traditions.
No explicit Vāstu or temple-rule is stated here; the ritual significance is indirect—these named ṛṣis are traditional authorities connected with Vedic transmission and śrauta-smārta lineages.
