Matsya Purana — The Observance of Ananta-Tritiya

In the center, one should place—each in their proper position—Māṃsāṅgā, Maṅgalā, Kumudā, and the virtuous Satī. Having installed Rudra in the very middle, one should place Lalitā upon the lotus’s pericarp (karṇikā), arranging them with flowers, unbroken grains of rice, and water, accompanied by reverential salutations.
This verse is not about pralaya; it focuses on ritual arrangement (vinyāsa) of deities in a lotus/mandala, emphasizing correct placement and offerings.
It supports the householder/royal duty of maintaining proper worship and temple/household rites—placing deities in prescribed order and honoring them with standard offerings and salutations.
It gives a mandala/lotus-based installation rule: Rudra is established at the center, Lalitā on the lotus pericarp (karṇikā), and other named deities are placed in their proper positions using flowers, akṣata, and water.
