Matsya Purana — The Kauśika Descendants: Śrāddha
श्वसृपः क्रोधनो हिंस्रः पिशुनः कविरेव च वाग्दुष्टः पितृवर्ती च गर्गशिष्यास्तदाभवन् //
śvasṛpaḥ krodhano hiṃsraḥ piśunaḥ kavireva ca vāgduṣṭaḥ pitṛvartī ca gargaśiṣyāstadābhavan //
Śvasṛpa, Krodhana, Hiṃsra, Piśuna, and also Kavi—together with Vāgduṣṭa and Pitṛvartī—were, at that time, the disciples of Garga.
This verse does not discuss Pralaya; it preserves a genealogical/paramparā record by naming the disciples of the sage Garga.
Indirectly, it supports dharma through remembrance of ṛṣis and lineages (paramparā-smṛti), a common Purāṇic ethic that reinforces respect for teachers, ancestry, and transmitted knowledge.
No Vāstu or ritual procedure is stated in this verse; its significance is archival—cataloguing sages connected to Garga, which can matter for ritual lineage (pravara/gotra) in later contexts.
