Matsya Purana — The Kalyāṇa-Saptamī
आदावन्ते च मध्ये च नमो ऽस्तु परमात्मने मन्त्रैरेभिः समभ्यर्च्य नमस्कारान्तदीपितैः //
ādāvante ca madhye ca namo 'stu paramātmane mantrairebhiḥ samabhyarcya namaskārāntadīpitaiḥ //
At the beginning, at the end, and in the middle—may there be obeisance to the Supreme Self (Paramātman). Having duly worshipped with these mantras, made resplendent by concluding salutations, one should proceed accordingly.
This verse is not about pralaya directly; it emphasizes continuous remembrance and reverence to the Paramātman at all times (beginning, middle, end), a devotional discipline applicable regardless of cosmic phases.
It teaches disciplined piety: a king or householder should begin, sustain, and conclude actions with reverence to the Supreme, and perform worship (archana) with proper mantras and concluding salutations—an ethical and ritual frame for daily duties.
Ritually, it prescribes mantra-based worship completed with namaskāra; this is a standard closing protocol for rites, including temple-related ceremonies (e.g., consecration, offerings) where procedures must be properly begun and concluded.
