Matsya Purana — The Battle at Tripura: Shiva’s Strategy
देवानां जन्मभूमिर्या त्रिषु लोकेषु विश्रुता विवाहाः क्रतवश्चैव जातकर्मादिकाः क्रियाः //
devānāṃ janmabhūmiryā triṣu lokeṣu viśrutā vivāhāḥ kratavaścaiva jātakarmādikāḥ kriyāḥ //
That land, famed throughout the three worlds as the birthplace of the gods—there, marriages, sacrificial rites, and the life-cycle ceremonies beginning with the birth-ritual (jātakarma) are duly performed.
This verse does not describe Pralaya; it emphasizes a sacred, world-renowned region where divine-associated rites and human dharmic ceremonies are properly conducted.
It highlights core householder duties (gṛhastha-dharma): conducting vivāha (marriage), maintaining yajñas (kratavaḥ), and performing saṃskāras such as jātakarma—ritual responsibilities often protected and supported by righteous kings.
The significance is primarily ritual: it lists key ceremonies—marriage, sacrificial rites, and birth/saṃskāra observances—indicating a culture of orthodox Vedic practice rather than specific Vāstu or temple-building rules.
