Matsya Purana — The Battle at Tripura: Shiva’s Strategy
इति ते ऽन्योन्यमाविद्धा उत्तरोत्तरभाषिणः आसाद्य पृच्छन्ति तदा दानवास्त्रिपुरालयाः //
iti te 'nyonyamāviddhā uttarottarabhāṣiṇaḥ āsādya pṛcchanti tadā dānavāstripurālayāḥ //
Thus the Dānavas dwelling in Tripurā—provoking one another and replying with ever more heated words—then drew near and began to question one another directly.
This verse does not describe Pralaya; it depicts the Tripura-dwelling Danavas becoming mutually provoked and entering an escalating exchange of questions and replies.
Indirectly, it contrasts disciplined counsel with agitated, retaliatory speech—implying that governance and household order require calm deliberation rather than mutual provocation.
Architecturally, it names “Tripura,” the famed triple stronghold/city of the Danavas, but this specific verse focuses on their confrontation and questioning rather than giving Vastu or ritual rules.
