Matsya Purana — The Ārdrānandakarī Tṛtīyā Vrata: Ritual Procedure
रम्भायै पूजयेदूरू शिवाय च पिनाकिनः अदित्यै च कटिं देव्याः शूलिनः शूलपाणये //
rambhāyai pūjayedūrū śivāya ca pinākinaḥ adityai ca kaṭiṃ devyāḥ śūlinaḥ śūlapāṇaye //
One should worship the Goddess’s thighs (ūrū) as Rambhā, and also worship Śivā and the Lord who bears the Pināka. One should likewise worship the Goddess’s waist as Aditi, and worship Śūlin—Śiva, the trident-bearer.
This verse does not discuss pralaya; it belongs to a ritual-iconographic sequence describing limb-wise worship (aṅga-pūjā) of the Goddess and associated deities.
It supports the householder/kingly duty of maintaining proper pūjā according to śāstra—performing structured worship where specific limbs of the Devī’s form are revered with appropriate deity-associations, reflecting disciplined daily dharma.
Ritually, it encodes aṅga-pūjā: the Goddess’s thighs and waist are worshipped with named divine correspondences (Rambhā, Aditi) and with Śiva epithets (Pinākin, Śūlapāṇi), guiding temple priests in correct mantra/nyāsa-style offerings during image worship.
