Matsya Purana — The Ārdrānandakarī Tṛtīyā Vrata: Ritual Procedure
आनन्ददां सकलदुःखहरां तृतीयां या स्त्री करोत्यविधवा विधवाथ वापि सा स्वे गृहे सुखशतान्यनुभूय भूयो गौरीपदं सदयिता दयिता प्रयाति //
ānandadāṃ sakaladuḥkhaharāṃ tṛtīyāṃ yā strī karotyavidhavā vidhavātha vāpi sā sve gṛhe sukhaśatānyanubhūya bhūyo gaurīpadaṃ sadayitā dayitā prayāti //
Any woman—whether not widowed or even widowed—who observes this joy-bestowing, sorrow-dispelling Tṛtīyā experiences hundreds of happinesses in her own home; and thereafter, together with her beloved, she attains the state of Gaurī (Pārvatī).
This verse does not discuss pralaya; it teaches vrata-phala—how observing Gaurī/Tṛtīyā removes sorrow and leads to auspicious spiritual attainment.
It supports household dharma by praising a domestic religious observance that brings well-being in the home and promises elevated spiritual destiny, applicable to women in varied life situations (including widowhood).
The focus is ritual rather than architecture: it highlights the Tṛtīyā vrata dedicated to Gaurī and frames it as a sorrow-destroying, joy-giving observance with both worldly and transcendent results.
