Matsya Purana — Solar–Lunar Motions
नव कोट्यः प्रसंख्याता योजनैः परिमण्डलम् तथा शतसहस्राणि चत्वारिंशच्च पञ्च च //
nava koṭyaḥ prasaṃkhyātā yojanaiḥ parimaṇḍalam tathā śatasahasrāṇi catvāriṃśacca pañca ca //
Its circular circumference is reckoned as nine koṭis of yojanas, together with one hundred thousand and forty-five more.
This verse is not describing Pralaya; it presents a cosmographical measurement—stating the Earth’s circular extent (parimaṇḍala) in yojanas as part of the Purana’s mapped universe.
Indirectly, such cosmographical knowledge supports the Purana’s ideal of a learned ruler/householder who understands sacred geography for pilgrimage, calendrical rites, and governance aligned with dharma.
While not a Vāstu rule itself, the emphasis on precise measure (pramāṇa) reflects the same Purāṇic mindset used in Vāstu and temple planning—accurate dimensions and proportional order are treated as ritually meaningful.
