Matsya Purana — Solar Dynasty Prelude: Vivasvān–Saṃjñā–Chāyā
कामयामास देवो ऽपि संज्ञेयमिति चादरात् जनयामास तस्यां तु पुत्रं च मनुरूपिणम् //
kāmayāmāsa devo 'pi saṃjñeyamiti cādarāt janayāmāsa tasyāṃ tu putraṃ ca manurūpiṇam //
The God, too, desired her, thinking with reverence, “She should be known and recognized.” And in her he begot a son who bore the very form and nature of Manu.
This verse is creation-oriented rather than Pralaya-focused: it describes divine intention leading to the begetting of a Manu-like son, supporting the Purana’s theme of re-establishing lineage and order across cosmic cycles.
By emphasizing legitimate recognition (“saṃjñeya”) and Manu-like character, it points to the Purāṇic ideal that social order and dharma continue through acknowledged lineage and rulers who embody Manu’s law-giving disposition.
No direct Vāstu or temple-rule detail appears in this verse; its ritual takeaway is the Purāṇic stress on sanctioned, recognized progeny as a foundation for dharmic rites, inheritance, and social continuity.
