Matsya Purana — Solar Dynasty Prelude: Vivasvān–Saṃjñā–Chāyā
ikṣvākuḥ kuśanābhaśca ariṣṭo dhṛṣṭa eva ca nariṣyantaḥ karūṣaśca śaryātiśca mahābalāḥ pṛṣadhraścātha nābhāgaḥ sarve te divyamānuṣāḥ //
Ikṣvāku, Kuśanābha, Ariṣṭa, and Dhṛṣṭa; Nariṣyanta, Karūṣa, and the mighty Śaryāti; and also Pṛṣadhra and Nābhāga—these all were men of divine stature.
This verse does not describe Pralaya; it preserves dynastic memory by listing early Solar Dynasty figures regarded as “divine-like” humans.
Indirectly, it frames kingship as a sacred trust: these rulers are presented as exemplary, implying that royal conduct (dharma, protection, and strength) should reflect a higher, almost divine standard.
No Vastu Shastra, temple-building, or ritual procedure is stated in this verse; its function is genealogical—cataloging renowned royal ancestors.
