Matsya Purana — Solar Dynasty Prelude: Vivasvān–Saṃjñā–Chāyā
रैवतस्य सुता राज्ञी रेवतं सुषुवे सुतम् प्रभा प्रभातं सुषुवे त्वाष्ट्री संज्ञा तथा मनुम् //
raivatasya sutā rājñī revataṃ suṣuve sutam prabhā prabhātaṃ suṣuve tvāṣṭrī saṃjñā tathā manum //
The queen, daughter of Raivata, bore a son named Revata. Prabhā gave birth to Prabhāta; and likewise Saṃjñā, the daughter of Tvaṣṭṛ, gave birth to Manu.
This verse is genealogical, listing births in a royal line; it does not directly describe Pralaya, but it supports the Purāṇic framework of cyclical time by situating Manu within dynastic succession.
By emphasizing legitimate lineage and succession, it indirectly underlines the king’s dharma to preserve the continuity of the realm and the householder’s dharma of progeny and orderly family transmission—key themes in Purāṇic rajadharma contexts.
No Vāstu, temple-building, or ritual procedure is stated here; the verse functions as a lineage record used to anchor later narratives and rites associated with royal ancestors.
