Matsya Purana — Saubhagya-Śayana Vow: Lalitā/Gaurī–Śiva Worship
माघे कृष्णतिलांस्तद्वत् पञ्चगव्यं च फाल्गुने ललिता विजया भद्रा भवानी कुमुदा शिवा //
māghe kṛṣṇatilāṃstadvat pañcagavyaṃ ca phālgune lalitā vijayā bhadrā bhavānī kumudā śivā //
In the month of Māgha, one should offer or give black sesame in the same manner; and in Phālguna, pañcagavya (the five cow-products) as well. She is to be invoked and praised as Lalitā, Vijayā, Bhadrā, Bhavānī, Kumudā, and Śivā.
This verse is not about pralaya; it belongs to ritual instruction, prescribing monthly offerings (black sesame and pañcagavya) and devotional invocation of the Goddess by specific epithets.
It supports gṛhastha/royal dharma through regulated monthly dāna and ritual purity practices—giving prescribed substances (kṛṣṇa-tila, pañcagavya) and honoring the Goddess with correct names as part of disciplined religious life.
Ritually, it highlights two key items: black sesame as a meritorious offering/dāna in Māgha, and pañcagavya in Phālguna as a classic purification/auspicious substance, along with Śakti-invocation through a set of divine names.
