Matsya Purana — Pṛthu
उत्पन्नो दक्षिणाद्धस्तात् सधनुः सशरो गदी दिव्यतेजोमयवपुः सरत्नकवचाङ्गदः //
utpanno dakṣiṇāddhastāt sadhanuḥ saśaro gadī divyatejomayavapuḥ saratnakavacāṅgadaḥ //
From the right hand there manifested a radiant warrior of divine body, formed of tejas; bearing bow, arrows, and a mace, adorned with jeweled armor and armlets.
This verse is not directly about Pralaya; it focuses on a sudden divine manifestation, emphasizing protective power and luminous, supra-human embodiment rather than cosmic dissolution.
By portraying a divinely sanctioned warrior equipped with bow, arrows, and mace, the verse indirectly supports the Purana’s ideal of kshatra—legitimate force used for protection, order, and the defense of dharma.
The verse supplies iconographic markers (weapons, jeweled armor, armlets, radiant body) useful for pratima-lakshana—guiding how such a deity/guardian figure may be represented in temple imagery and ritual visualization.
