Matsya Purana — Prayaga Mahatmya Begins: Yudhishthira’s Remorse
हत्वा भीष्मं च द्रोणं च कर्णं चैव महाबलम् दुर्योधनं च राजानं पुत्रभ्रातृसमन्वितम् //
hatvā bhīṣmaṃ ca droṇaṃ ca karṇaṃ caiva mahābalam duryodhanaṃ ca rājānaṃ putrabhrātṛsamanvitam //
Having slain Bhīṣma, Droṇa, and the mighty Karṇa, and also King Duryodhana—together with his sons and brothers—(they proceeded further).
This verse does not address Pralaya; it alludes instead to Itihāsa history—specifically the Kurukṣetra war and the slaying of major Kuru-era heroes.
By naming the chief warriors and the king (Duryodhana), the verse frames the consequences of adharma in kingship and the kṣatriya sphere—war culminating in the destruction of a ruler along with his kin, a cautionary historical exemplum used in Purāṇic ethical narration.
No Vāstu, temple-architecture, or ritual procedure is stated in this verse; it functions as a historical-epic reference rather than a technical Vastuvidyā or liturgical instruction.
