Matsya Purana — Paurava Genealogy: Bharata
औचेयुश्च हृषेयुश्च कक्षेयुश्च सनेयुकः धृतेयुश्च विनेयुश्च स्थलेयुश्चैव सत्तमः //
auceyuśca hṛṣeyuśca kakṣeyuśca saneyukaḥ dhṛteyuśca vineyuśca sthaleyuścaiva sattamaḥ //
And (there were) Auceyu, Hṛṣeyu, Kakṣeyu, and Saneyuka; also Dhṛteyu, Vineyu, and Sthaleyu—(all) foremost among the virtuous.
This verse does not discuss Pralaya; it functions as a genealogical name-list, preserving dynastic memory rather than cosmology.
Indirectly, it supports the Purana’s dharma-framework by recording exemplary lineages—calling these figures “sattamaḥ” implies an ideal of virtuous conduct expected of rulers and respected householders.
No Vastu or ritual procedure is stated here; the verse is strictly a lineage enumeration with an honorific evaluation (“foremost among the good”).
