Matsya Purana — Paurava Genealogy: Bharata
दायादस्तस्य चाप्यासीद् धुन्धुर्नाम महीपतिः धुन्धोर्बहुविधः पुत्रः सम्पातिस्तस्य चात्मजः //
dāyādastasya cāpyāsīd dhundhurnāma mahīpatiḥ dhundhorbahuvidhaḥ putraḥ sampātistasya cātmajaḥ //
His heir, too, was a king named Dhundhu. Dhundhu had a son named Bahuvidha, and Bahuvidha’s son was Sampāti.
This verse does not describe pralaya; it preserves dynastic continuity by listing royal successors in a lineage.
By emphasizing dāyāda (rightful heir), it reflects the Purāṇic concern for orderly succession—an aspect of rājadharma that prevents disorder in the kingdom and protects social stability.
No vastu, temple-building, or ritual procedure is stated here; the content is purely genealogical (vamśa) and succession-oriented.
