Matsya Purana — Paurava Genealogy
जनमेजयाच्छतानीकस् तस्माज्जज्ञे स वीर्यवान् जनमेजयः शतानीकं पुत्रं राज्ये ऽभिषिक्तवान् //
janamejayācchatānīkas tasmājjajñe sa vīryavān janamejayaḥ śatānīkaṃ putraṃ rājye 'bhiṣiktavān //
From Janamejaya was born Śatānīka, a valiant son. Thereafter Janamejaya anointed (abhiṣeka) his son Śatānīka and installed him as king over the realm.
This verse does not address Pralaya; it belongs to the Matsya Purana’s dynastic record, emphasizing continuity of royal lineage rather than cosmic dissolution.
By highlighting abhiṣeka (royal consecration), the verse implies legitimate succession and orderly transfer of power—an essential Rajadharma principle for protecting the realm and ensuring social stability.
The ritual element is abhiṣeka—formal consecration to kingship. While no Vāstu rules are stated, abhiṣeka is a key royal rite often performed with prescribed ceremonial arrangements.
