Matsya Purana — Paurava Genealogy
मुद्गलस्य सुतो जज्ञे ब्रह्मिष्ठः सुमहायशाः इन्द्रसेनः सुतस्तस्य विन्ध्याश्वस्तस्य चात्मजः //
mudgalasya suto jajñe brahmiṣṭhaḥ sumahāyaśāḥ indrasenaḥ sutastasya vindhyāśvastasya cātmajaḥ //
From Mudgala was born a son, Indrasena—steadfast in sacred knowledge and of great renown. And Vindhyāśva was born as his son.
This verse does not describe Pralaya; it records a dynastic succession (Mudgala → Indrasena → Vindhyāśva), typical of the Matsya Purana’s genealogical mapping of sacred history.
By praising Indrasena as brahmiṣṭha (firmly grounded in sacred knowledge) and renowned, the verse implies an ideal for rulers and householders alike: governance and life should be guided by dharma and learning, not merely power.
No direct Vāstu, temple-building, or ritual procedure is stated here; the verse functions as a genealogical link used to anchor later narratives, donations, and dharmic precedents to specific royal lines.
