Matsya Purana — Paurava Genealogy
सर्वस्य सम्भवः पुत्रस् तस्माद्राजा बृहद्रथः द्वे तस्य शकले जाते जरया संधितश् च सः //
sarvasya sambhavaḥ putras tasmādrājā bṛhadrathaḥ dve tasya śakale jāte jarayā saṃdhitaś ca saḥ //
From him was born Sarva’s son; and from that lineage arose King Bṛhadratha. He was born in two separate halves, and later was joined together by Jarā.
This verse does not address Pralaya; it belongs to a dynastic genealogy, highlighting a miraculous birth motif within royal succession.
Indirectly, it reinforces the Purāṇic emphasis on legitimate lineage and continuity of kingship—key supports for rājadharma—by explaining how Bṛhadratha’s life and rule became possible despite an unusual birth.
No Vāstu, temple-building, or ritual procedure is stated here; the focus is purely genealogical and narrative (birth and restoration of a king).
