Matsya Purana — Origins of Gods and Beings: Daksha’s Progeny
तांस् तु दृष्ट्वा महाभागः सिसृक्षुर्विविधाः प्रजाः नारदः प्राह हर्यश्वान् दक्षपुत्रान्समागतान् //
tāṃs tu dṛṣṭvā mahābhāgaḥ sisṛkṣurvividhāḥ prajāḥ nāradaḥ prāha haryaśvān dakṣaputrānsamāgatān //
Seeing them assembled, the noble sage Nārada—intent on bringing forth diverse progeny—addressed the Haryaśvas, the sons of Dakṣa.
It belongs to the creation/progeny (sarga) stream: Nārada approaches Dakṣa’s sons in the context of generating “diverse beings,” not describing Pralaya directly.
By foregrounding “prajā” (progeny/subjects), it echoes the Purāṇic ideal that social order depends on responsible continuation—whether through household life (procreation and duty) or through wise counsel that guides society’s direction.
No Vāstu/temple-building or ritual procedure is stated in this verse; it functions as a narrative transition introducing Nārada’s instruction within the creation-and-lineage framework.
