Matsya Purana — Navagraha Sacrifice for Planetary Pacification and Prosperity
सर्वे समुद्राः सरितः सरांसि च नदास्तथा आयान्तु यजमानस्य दुरितक्षयकारकाः //
sarve samudrāḥ saritaḥ sarāṃsi ca nadāstathā āyāntu yajamānasya duritakṣayakārakāḥ //
May all the oceans, the rivers, the lakes, and likewise the streams come forth for the sacrificer (yajamāna), as agents that bring about the destruction of his sins.
It does not describe Pralaya directly; it reflects the Purana’s sacred-geography worldview where cosmic waters (oceans, rivers, lakes) are invoked as spiritually potent forces that cleanse impurity.
It supports the householder/kingly duty of maintaining ritual purity—undertaking yajñas and expiatory cleansing—by invoking sacred waters to remove durita (moral and ritual blemish) from the yajamāna.
Ritually, it functions like a snāna/śuddhi invocation: all bodies of water are called to be present and effect sin-removal for the patron of the rite, reinforcing tirtha-focused purification procedures.
