Matsya Purana — Navagraha Sacrifice for Planetary Pacification and Prosperity
यः पठेच्छृणुयाद्वापि ग्रहयज्ञत्रयं नरः सर्वपापविशुद्धात्मा पदमिन्द्रस्य गच्छति //
yaḥ paṭhecchṛṇuyādvāpi grahayajñatrayaṃ naraḥ sarvapāpaviśuddhātmā padamindrasya gacchati //
Whoever recites—or even merely listens to—the triad of Graha-sacrifices (Graha-yajña-traya) becomes purified of all sins and attains Indra’s abode.
This verse does not discuss Pralaya; it is a phalaśruti promising purification and heavenly attainment through reciting or hearing the three Graha-yajñas.
It supports the householder’s (and by extension a king’s) duty to uphold smārta-dharma through yajña and sacred hearing/recitation (śravaṇa–pāṭha), presenting these acts as means of moral purification and merit.
The significance is ritual: performing/reciting/hearing the prescribed triad of Graha-yajñas (often aligned with graha-śānti intentions) is said to cleanse sin and grant elevated post-mortem attainment (Indra-loka).
