Matsya Purana — Manifestation of Kauśikī
तस्यास्तद्भाषितं श्रुत्वा प्रोवाच कमलासनः एवं भव त्वं भूयश्च भर्तृदेहार्धधारिणी //
tasyāstadbhāṣitaṃ śrutvā provāca kamalāsanaḥ evaṃ bhava tvaṃ bhūyaśca bhartṛdehārdhadhāriṇī //
Hearing her words, the Lotus-seated (Brahmā) spoke: “So be it. Become once again the bearer of half of your husband’s body.”
This verse does not discuss pralaya or cosmology; it presents Brahmā granting a boon in a moral narrative centered on fidelity and divine sanction.
It reflects the Purāṇic ethic of gṛhastha-dharma by praising steadfast marital commitment and portraying divine authority (Brahmā) affirming a wife’s vow through a boon.
No Vāstu/temple-building rule appears here; the key takeaway is ritual-ethical—boon-bestowal language and the ideal of conjugal unity expressed as “bearing half the husband’s body.”
