Matsya Purana — Mandāra-Saptamī Vrata
अनेन विधिना यस्तु कुर्यान्मन्दारसप्तमीम् विपाप्मा स सुखी मर्त्यः कल्पं च दिवि मोदते //
anena vidhinā yastu kuryānmandārasaptamīm vipāpmā sa sukhī martyaḥ kalpaṃ ca divi modate //
Whoever performs the Mandāra-Saptamī observance in this prescribed manner becomes free from sin; that mortal lives happily and rejoices in heaven for an entire kalpa.
This verse is not about pralaya; it is a vrata-phala statement, promising sinlessness and heavenly enjoyment for observing Mandāra-Saptamī as prescribed.
It frames a practical dharma for householders (and rulers alike): undertaking sanctioned vows (vratas) with proper procedure is presented as a means to ethical purification (removal of pāpa) and the attainment of auspicious results.
The significance is ritual, not architectural: the key point is adherence to the correct vidhi (procedure) for the Mandāra-Saptamī observance, which is said to yield merit and heavenly reward.
