Matsya Purana — Kārtavīrya Arjuna’s Solar Boon and the Genealogy from Kroṣṭu to the Yādava Lines
कुकुरस्य सुतो वृष्णिर् वृष्णेस्तु तनयो धृतिः कपोतरोमा तस्याथ तैत्तिरिस्तस्य चात्मजः //
kukurasya suto vṛṣṇir vṛṣṇestu tanayo dhṛtiḥ kapotaromā tasyātha taittiristasya cātmajaḥ //
Kukura’s son was Vṛṣṇi; and Vṛṣṇi’s son was Dhṛti. From him came Kapotaromā, and thereafter Taittiri, who was his son.
This verse does not discuss Pralaya; it is a genealogical notice listing successive descendants in the Kukura–Vṛṣṇi line.
Indirectly, it supports the Purana’s dharma framework by preserving lineage memory (vamsha-smriti), a key royal concern for legitimacy, inheritance, and the continuity of rites performed for ancestors.
No Vastu or ritual procedure is stated in this verse; its function is archival—recording succession in a clan genealogy used for contextualizing later narratives and ritual patronage.
