Matsya Purana — Kārtavīrya Arjuna’s Solar Boon and the Genealogy from Kroṣṭu to the Yādava Lines
यज्वा दानपतिर् वीरो ब्रह्मण्यश्च दृढव्रतः रूपवान्सुमहातेजाः श्रुतवीर्यधरस्तथा //
yajvā dānapatir vīro brahmaṇyaśca dṛḍhavrataḥ rūpavānsumahātejāḥ śrutavīryadharastathā //
He was a performer of sacrifices (yajña), foremost in gifts, and a true hero—devoted to the Brahmins and steadfast in his vows. Handsome and of great splendor, he also upheld the famed valor of his lineage.
This verse does not address Pralaya; it focuses on royal virtues—sacrifice (yajña), charity (dāna), steadfast vows (vrata), and valor—used to characterize an exemplary ruler in the dynastic narrative.
It presents a dharmic template: a ruler (and by extension a householder) should support sacred rites (yajña), practice generous giving (dāna), honor Brahmins and learning (brahmaṇya), keep firm disciplines (dṛḍhavrata), and protect society through courageous strength (vīrya).
The ritual emphasis is on yajña and dāna: patronage of sacrifices and charitable support for religious life. No Vāstu or temple-architecture rule is stated in this particular verse.
