Matsya Purana — Kārtavīrya Arjuna’s Solar Boon and the Genealogy from Kroṣṭu to the Yādava Lines
अन्धकं च महाभोजं वृष्णिं च यदुनन्दनम् तेषां तु सर्गाश् चत्वारो विस्तरेणैव तच्छृणु //
andhakaṃ ca mahābhojaṃ vṛṣṇiṃ ca yadunandanam teṣāṃ tu sargāś catvāro vistareṇaiva tacchṛṇu //
And Andhaka, Mahābhoja, and Vṛṣṇi—the delight of the Yadus—these lineages have four distinct origins; hear that account in full detail.
This verse is not about cosmic creation or Pralaya; it introduces genealogical “sargas” (branches/origins) of Yadu-related clans (Andhaka, Mahābhoja, Vṛṣṇi) to be explained in detail.
Indirectly, it supports the Purāṇic aim of preserving lineage-memory (vamśa) and social continuity—knowledge that underpins dharma through rightful succession, kinship obligations, and the ethical identity of royal/household lines.
No Vāstu or ritual procedure is stated here; the focus is purely dynastic classification—announcing four genealogical origins/branches to be narrated next.
