Matsya Purana — Kārtavīrya Arjuna’s Solar Boon and the Genealogy from Kroṣṭu to the Yādava Lines
जज्ञिरे पञ्च पुत्रास्तु महावीर्या धनुर्भृतः रुक्मेषुः पृथुरुक्मश्च ज्यामघः परिघो हरिः //
jajñire pañca putrāstu mahāvīryā dhanurbhṛtaḥ rukmeṣuḥ pṛthurukmaśca jyāmaghaḥ parigho hariḥ //
Five sons were born—mighty in valor and bearers of the bow: Rukmeṣu, Pṛthurukma, Jyāmagha, Parigha, and Hari.
This verse does not discuss Pralaya; it records a genealogical event—the birth of five warrior sons—showing how royal lineages continue through progeny.
By emphasizing sons as “mahāvīryā dhanurbhṛtaḥ” (mighty bowmen), the verse reflects the Kshatriya ideal: rulers and their heirs are expected to protect society, uphold dharma, and maintain the continuity of the kingdom and family line.
No Vastu, temple-building, or ritual procedure is stated in this verse; its focus is purely genealogical—naming the five sons and their martial characterization.
