Matsya Purana — Kamalā-Saptamī Vow: Lotus Rite for Sūrya
दिवाकर नमस्तुभ्यं प्रभाकर नमो ऽस्तु ते ततो द्विकालवेलायाम् उदकुम्भसमन्विताम् //
divākara namastubhyaṃ prabhākara namo 'stu te tato dvikālavelāyām udakumbhasamanvitām //
“O Divākara (Sun), salutations to you; O Prabhākara (Maker of light), may homage be to you.” Thereafter, at the two junction-times of the day, one should perform the rite equipped with a water-pot (kumbha).
This verse does not describe Pralaya; it teaches daily dharmic practice—saluting the Sun and performing the twice-daily water-offering at the sandhyā times.
It frames a core āchāra (daily discipline): a ruler or householder should maintain regular sandhyā observance—reverence to Sūrya and the arghya rite—supporting purity, self-control, and lawful conduct.
The ritual detail is the requirement of an udakumbha (water-pot) for the twice-daily sandhyā offering (arghya) to the Sun, indicating prescribed ritual equipment and timing rather than temple-architecture rules.
