Matsya Purana — Kamalā-Saptamī Vow: Lotus Rite for Sūrya
*ईश्वर उवाच अतः परं प्रवक्ष्यामि तद्वत्कमलसप्तमीम् यस्याः संकीर्तनादेव तुष्यतीह दिवाकरः //
*īśvara uvāca ataḥ paraṃ pravakṣyāmi tadvatkamalasaptamīm yasyāḥ saṃkīrtanādeva tuṣyatīha divākaraḥ //
Īśvara said: “Now, next, I shall expound that very observance called Kamalā-Saptamī; by merely reciting and praising it, Divākara (the Sun) becomes pleased here, in this very world.”
This verse does not discuss pralaya; it introduces a vrata-mahātmya, stating that praise/recitation of Kamalā-Saptamī pleases the Sun.
It frames a household/royal duty of dharmic observance: performing and even reciting the praise of a calendrical rite (vrata) connected with Sūrya, understood as supporting prosperity, health, and social order.
Ritually, it signals the start of instructions for the Kamalā-Saptamī rite and emphasizes saṃkīrtana (devotional recitation) as efficacious; no Vāstu/temple-building detail appears in this verse.
