Matsya Purana — Ila–Sudyumna Episode and the Expansion of the Ikṣvāku
तस्यानरण्यः पुत्रो ऽभून् निघ्नस्तस्य सुतो ऽभवत् निघ्नपुत्राव् उभौ जाताव् अनमित्ररघू नृपौ //
tasyānaraṇyaḥ putro 'bhūn nighnastasya suto 'bhavat nighnaputrāv ubhau jātāv anamitraraghū nṛpau //
From him was born Anaraṇya; and Anaraṇya’s son was Nighna. To Nighna were born two sons—Anamitra and Raghu—both kings.
This verse does not address Pralaya; it preserves dynastic memory by listing successive rulers in the Solar Dynasty.
Indirectly, it supports rajadharma by emphasizing legitimate succession and continuity of kingship—key Purāṇic ideals for stable rule and social order.
No Vāstu or ritual procedure is stated in this verse; it is purely genealogical, naming kings in succession.
