Matsya Purana — Hiranyakashipu’s Boons
सर्वे लब्धवराः शूराः सर्वे विगतमृत्यवः एते चान्ये च बहवो हिरण्यकशिपुं प्रभुम् //
sarve labdhavarāḥ śūrāḥ sarve vigatamṛtyavaḥ ete cānye ca bahavo hiraṇyakaśipuṃ prabhum //
All were heroes who had obtained boons; all were free from the fear of death. These—and many others besides—(stood aligned with) their lord, Hiraṇyakaśipu.
This verse does not describe pralaya directly; it highlights the recurring Puranic motif that beings empowered by boons may appear “deathless,” setting the stage for later cosmic rebalancing by divine order.
It implies an ethical warning central to Purāṇic teaching: power gained through favors or extraordinary means (boons) can breed overconfidence; rulers and householders should remain humble, act within dharma, and remember that apparent invulnerability is not true righteousness.
No vastu, temple-building, or ritual procedure is stated in this verse; its focus is narrative—describing a host of boon-endowed warriors gathered under Hiraṇyakaśipu.
