Matsya Purana — Glory of Tīrtha-Śrāddha: Best Times
तीर्थं वसुप्रदं नाम छागलाण्डं तथैव च एतेषु श्राद्धदातारः प्रयान्ति परमं पदम् //
tīrthaṃ vasupradaṃ nāma chāgalāṇḍaṃ tathaiva ca eteṣu śrāddhadātāraḥ prayānti paramaṃ padam //
There is a sacred ford called Vasuprada, and likewise (the tīrtha named) Chāgalāṇḍa. Those who offer śrāddha at these places attain the supreme state.
This verse does not address pralaya; it teaches tīrtha-mahātmyā—how performing śrāddha at specific sacred sites leads to the highest spiritual attainment.
It reinforces gṛhastha-dharma: honoring ancestors through śrāddha, especially at sanctified tīrthas, is presented as a powerful duty that yields supreme spiritual benefit.
The ritual significance is primary: śrāddha performed at the tīrthas Vasuprada and Chāgalāṇḍa is declared exceptionally meritorious, culminating in ‘paramaṃ padam’.
