Matsya Purana — Glory of Tīrtha-Śrāddha: Best Times
एतेषु श्राद्धतीर्थेषु श्राद्धमानन्त्यमश्नुते लोहदण्डं तथा तीर्थं चित्रकूटस्तथैव च //
eteṣu śrāddhatīrtheṣu śrāddhamānantyamaśnute lohadaṇḍaṃ tathā tīrthaṃ citrakūṭastathaiva ca //
By performing the Śrāddha rite at these sacred Śrāddha-tīrthas, one partakes of inexhaustible merit. Among such places are the tīrtha called Lohadaṇḍa, and likewise Citrakūṭa.
This verse does not discuss Pralaya; it focuses on ritual dharma—specifically the inexhaustible merit gained by performing Śrāddha at certain tīrthas.
It affirms a key householder duty (gṛhastha-dharma): honoring ancestors through Śrāddha. By recommending specific tīrthas, it frames pilgrimage-based Śrāddha as a high-merit option for those maintaining family and social continuity.
The significance is ritual rather than architectural: Śrāddha performed at designated Śrāddha-tīrthas yields ānantya/akṣaya-phala (inexhaustible results), with Lohadaṇḍa and Citrakūṭa named as exemplary sacred sites.
