Matsya Purana — Dynastic Genealogies: Paurava–Anu Lines
*मुनय ऊचुः कथं बलेः सुता जाताः पञ्च तस्य महात्मनः किंनाम्नी महिषी तस्य जनिता कतम ऋषिः //
*munaya ūcuḥ kathaṃ baleḥ sutā jātāḥ pañca tasya mahātmanaḥ kiṃnāmnī mahiṣī tasya janitā katama ṛṣiḥ //
The sages said: “How were the five sons of that great-souled Bali born? What was the name of his chief queen, and which sage was their begetter (father)?”
This verse does not discuss pralaya; it focuses on dynastic genealogy—specifically Bali’s offspring, his queen’s name, and the identity of the progenitor.
By foregrounding legitimate lineage—queen (mahiṣī) and progenitor—it reflects the Purāṇic concern for dharmic succession, inheritance, and the continuity of royal and household responsibilities through properly established progeny.
No Vāstu, temple-building, or ritual procedure is stated in this verse; it is a narrative prompt introducing genealogical details.
