Matsya Purana — Code of Conduct and Vow-Procedure for Courtesans
तदनुज्ञया रूपवान्यो यावदभ्यागतो भवेत् आत्मनो ऽपि यथाविघ्नं गर्भभूतिकरं प्रियम् //
tadanujñayā rūpavānyo yāvadabhyāgato bhavet ātmano 'pi yathāvighnaṃ garbhabhūtikaraṃ priyam //
With her permission, let the man—handsome and well-disposed—approach her at the proper time; and let him do so in a manner free from obstacles even for himself, seeking what is dear and conducive to the well-being and flourishing of the embryo.
It does not address Pralaya; it focuses on householders’ conduct and conditions that support healthy conception and foetal flourishing.
It frames a householder’s duty as disciplined, consent-based conjugal conduct performed at the proper time and in a trouble-free manner, aimed at the welfare of offspring—an ethical ideal that also underpins social stability valued in rajadharma.
The ritual significance is garbha-oriented saṃskāra intent: actions should be yathāvighnam (without impediments) and garbhabhūtikaram (promoting foetal well-being), implying careful observance of auspicious conditions rather than any Vastu/temple rule.
