Adhyaya 74 — King Svarashtra, the Deer-Queen’s Curse, and the Rise of Tamasa Manu
नास्थाने वो मनो यातं नागम्याहं तवेश्वर ।
किन्तु त्वत्सङ्गमे विघ्नमेष लोलः करोति मे ॥
nāsthāne vo mano yātaṃ nāgamyāhaṃ taveśvara | kintu tvatsaṅgame vighnam eṣa lolaḥ karoti me ||
Your mind has gone to an improper place; I am not one to be approached by you, O lord. Rather, this fickle impulse creates an obstacle for me in coming into association with you.

Improper mental fixation itself becomes the obstacle: ethical conduct begins with inner governance; without it, even legitimate association is disrupted.

The ‘fickle one’ (lola) points to the oscillating mind; the teaching is that saṅgama (connection) must be purified of rāga, or it turns into bondage.
