dharmapāśanibaddhena yanmayā marṣitaṃ purā | tasya rādheya kopasya vijayaṃ paśya me mṛdhe ||

Formerly, bound fast by the noose of dharma, I endured what I had to endure in silence. But now, O Rādheya, in this battle behold the outcome of that restrained wrath—my victory, here on the field.

Educational Q&A

The verse contrasts ethical restraint with rightful action: when bound by dharma one may endure insult or harm without retaliation, but when the time for just combat arrives, that same disciplined resolve can manifest as decisive victory rather than uncontrolled rage.

Arjuna addresses Karṇa (called Rādheya), recalling that earlier he tolerated provocations because dharma constrained him; now, in open battle, he challenges Karṇa to witness the result of that long-contained anger—Arjuna’s triumph in the fight.
