Arjuna uvāca—Karṇa yat te sabhāmadhye bahu vācā vikatthitam | na me yudhi samo 'stīti tad idaṁ samupasthitam ||
Arjuna said: “Karṇa, once in the Kauravas’ assembly you boasted at length, declaring, ‘In battle there is none equal to me.’ Now that very moment has arrived—this battlefield stands before us to test that claim.”
अर्जुन उवाच
Words, especially public boasts about prowess and virtue, invite accountability; in a dharmic frame, reputation must be matched by conduct, and speech is tested by action when the decisive moment arrives.
Arjuna confronts Karna and recalls Karna’s earlier claim—made in the Kaurava court—that no warrior equals him in battle; Arjuna declares that the present combat is the occasion to verify that claim.
