प्रमाथिनं महावीर्य दृढमुष्टिं दुरासदम् । जेतारं देवदैत्यानां सर्वेषां च महारथम्,इसी समय आचार्य द्रोणकी प्रशंसा करनेवाले देवताओंका यह शब्द आकाशमें गूँज उठा--'अहो! द्रोणाचार्यने बड़ा दुष्कर कार्य किया कि अबतक अर्जुनके साथ युद्धमें डटे रह गये। ये अर्जुन तो शत्रुओंको मथ डालनेवाले, महापराक्रमी, दृढ़ मुष्टिवाले, दुर्धर्ष तथा सम्पूर्ण देवताओं और दैत्योंको जीतनेवाले महारथी वीर हैं"
pramāthinaṁ mahāvīryaṁ dṛḍhamuṣṭiṁ durāsadam | jetāraṁ devadaityānāṁ sarveṣāṁ ca mahāratham ||
Vaiśaṃpāyana said: “(Arjuna is) a crusher of foes, of great heroic power, firm-fisted and unassailable— a conqueror of all gods and Dānavas, and a great chariot-warrior. At that moment, words of the gods—praising Droṇa—resounded in the sky: ‘Ah! Droṇācārya has accomplished a most difficult feat, for he has stood firm in battle against Arjuna for so long. For this Arjuna is a hero who churns down enemies, supremely valorous, hard-fisted, irresistible, and a mahāratha who can overcome even gods and demons.’”
