Then, in the same manner, the Pāṇḍava (Arjuna), swift and exultant, took up the divine bow Gāṇḍīva—an excellent weapon able to bear great strain and a destroyer of foes. With it he poured forth showers of splendid, gold-adorned, variegated arrows, and by the volleys released from his bow he swiftly checked and broke the arrow-rain of Droṇa. The scene was wondrous to behold, displaying disciplined prowess directed toward the defeat of an adversary rather than mere rage.

The verse highlights disciplined strength: even in battle, excellence lies in controlled skill and steadfast purpose—meeting force with mastery rather than uncontrolled fury, reflecting the kṣatriya ideal of duty-bound courage.
Vaiśampāyana describes Arjuna seizing the divine Gāṇḍīva and unleashing rapid volleys of arrows that neutralize Droṇa’s arrow-rain, creating a striking, almost miraculous spectacle of countering weaponry.
