Vaiśaṃpāyana said: Then, among those aerial chariots, the sky-ranging vimāna of Indra, king of the gods, shone with surpassing splendor. It was a divine conveyance that moved according to desire, adorned with every kind of jewel—an image of celestial sovereignty and the effortless power that accompanies divine merit.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse uses Indra’s wish-moving, jewel-adorned vimāna as a symbol of divine sovereignty and the fruits of merit: true power and radiance are portrayed as arising from a higher order (dharma and puṇya), not merely from human effort.
Vaiśaṃpāyana describes a scene featuring celestial vehicles; among them, Indra’s sky-ranging vimāna stands out as the most splendid, characterized by its ability to move at will and its rich jewel adornment.
