ततस्त्वभूद्‌ वै तलतालशब्द: सशड्रभेरीपणवप्रणाद: । प्रक्षेडितज्यातलनि:स्वनं तं वैकर्तनं पूजयतां कुरूणाम्‌,फिर तो वहाँ कर्ण बार-बार प्रत्यंचा खींचकर धनुषकी टंकार फैलाने लगा और उसकी प्रशंसा करनेवाले कौरवोंके दलमें हथेलियों और तालियोंकी गड़गड़ाहट होने लगी। शंख बज उठे, नगाड़े पीटे जाने लगे और ढोलोंका गम्भीर शब्द सब ओर गूँजने लगा

Transliteration

tatas tv abhūd vai talatālaśabdaḥ saśaṅkhabherīpaṇavapraṇādaḥ | prakṣeditajyātalaniḥsvanaṃ taṃ vaikartanaṃ pūjayatāṃ kurūṇām ||

Translation

Vaiśampāyana said: Then there arose a thunder of clapping and applause, together with the blare of conches, the booming of kettledrums, and the deep roar of paṇava-drums. As Karṇa (Vaikartana) repeatedly drew and released his bowstring, its resonant twang spread through the ranks of the Kauravas who were honoring and acclaiming him.
