चातुर्वर्ण्यस्य कर्माणि विहितानि स्वयम्भुवा । धनं यैरधिगन्तव्यं यच्च कुर्वन्‌ न दुष्पति,ब्रह्माजीने चारों वर्णोके कर्म नियत कर दिये हैं, जिनसे धन भी मिल सकता है और जिनका अनुष्ठान करनेसे कर्ता दोषका भागी नहीं होता

cāturvarṇyasya karmāṇi vihitāni svayambhuvā | dhanaṃ yair adhigantavyaṃ yac ca kurvan na duṣpati ||

Kṛpa said: The duties of the four social orders have been ordained by the Self-born Creator. By performing those prescribed works one may also obtain wealth, and, while acting in that way, the doer does not incur moral fault.
